On average how long does it take you to find on-campus parking?

Parking Solution

How do you feel when every time you leave your house to head to campus you are either late for class, have to wait forever to park, or end up getting anxious and park illegally? Does this sound familiar to anyone? We are putting our heads together trying to come up with a legitimate proposal in order to fix this problem. We have come up with one simple solution to improve this but there are a few opposing viewpoints that could be brought up. If administration would provide the funds to create one parking structure in one of the “Y” lots south of campus, it would eliminate the parking problem for a large number of students. You would never be late for class again due to parking, never find yourself paying an annoying parking ticket due to illegal parking, or find yourself stuck in the parking lot waiting for someone to leave so that they can free up a spot. Now our opposition could ask how we are going to provide the funds for this, and our answer would be that we could charge students to park on campus. If the parking structure can but built for 8 million dollars and would provide an additional 500 spots we could charge for on-campus parking once again as they have done in the past. This would help pay for the cost, not in full, but year after year it would help begin to add up so it is not so steep.

We pay so much money each year to keep campus looking so good, but what about all of the non students or “visitors” that come to check out our world-renowned campus. The parking structure would only free up more space for them so that it would not be such a head ache on a busy day to find parking.

Another plus to having a parking structure would be that on a snowy or rainy day you can park your car and do not have to worry about getting covered in snow or soaked in the rain. Or in the summertime when the Utah heat is blazing shade is always welcome so your car isn't scorching hot when you get out of class.
